Expanded Testing and Tools to Close the Sale

The Deluxe Sales Demonstration Kit gives water treatment professionals a powerful way to show homeowners the real difference softened water can make. Built for in-home sales presentations, this expanded kit includes the tools, testing solutions, and demonstration equipment technicians need to identify common water problems and clearly explain the value of a properly treated water system.

Turn Water Testing Into a Compelling Sales Conversation

Homeowners may not always understand what hard water, iron, chlorine, nitrates, pH imbalance, or dissolved solids mean for their home. This kit helps make those issues visible. With a deluxe mini softener, multiple water quality tests, a TDS meter, conductivity light, mini pump, and a sturdy alumi-steel carrying case, sales technicians can demonstrate water softener performance, explain treatment needs, and build confidence in the recommended solution.

HARDNESS TEST

(1) Fill the plastic measuring tube level full of the water to be tested and pour into square mixing bottle. IMPORTANT — hold the bottle straight up and down when adding drops. If testing in the home, allow the water to run for a few minutes before sampling. (2) Add three drops of hardness solution #1 to the water sample and swirl the bottle to mix the solution. (3) Add three drops of hardness solution #2 to the water sample and swirl to mix. The addition of these chemicals will turn the water sample red, if hardness is present. (4) Add the hardness solution #3, on drop at a time, (while swirling the mixing bottle) — be sure to count the drops it requires to turn the water sample from red to blue. The number of drops required is equal to the hardness in grains per gallon (GPG).

SOAP COMPARISON TEST

(1) Fill one flask halfway with hard water from the tap. (2) Fill the other flask half full of water softened through the demo softener. (3) Add three drops of soap solution to each flask, cap and shake. If water is soft, thick suds will form on the top of the water. If water is hard, a soap curd will form in the water. (4) Compare the two flasks to see if the soft water sample is clear and the hard water sample is cloudy.

PRECIPITATION TEST

(1) Fill one large test tube 3/4 full with the hard water sample to be tested. (2) Fill the second large test tube 3/4 full with the soft water sample from the demo softener. (3) Add 10 drops of Precipitation #1 solution to each test tube. (4) Add 10 drops of Precipitation #2 solution to each test tube. (5) Place thumb over end of each test tube and invert several times. (6) Place test tubes in test tube stand and compare.

NITRATE TEST

(1) Fill (purple) test tube cube with “Nitrate Test” printed on the top to the calibrated line with water to be tested. (2) Tear open the end of one nitrate powder packet and empty it into the water sample. (3) Cap the test tube block and shake until the powder is dissolved. (4) Allow the water sample to stand approximately 10 minutes for full color development. (5) Compare the color of the water sample to the color chart on the test tube block to determine the approximate amount of nitrates present in parts per million (PPM).

PH TEST

(1) Fill the side of the dual test tube stand marked “pH” to the calibrated line with the water to be tested. (2) Add ten drops of the pH solution to the water sample, cap the dual test tube stand and shake several times to mix the solution. (3) Compare the color of the water sample to the color chart on the dual test stand to determine the approximate pH value of the water.

IRON TEST

(1) Prior to testing for iron and pH, thoroughly rinse out the dual test tube stand of any solution previously used. (2) Fill the side of the dual tube stand marked “iron” to the calibrated line with the water sample to be tested. (3) Tear open one end of the iron powder packet and empty it into the water sample. (4) Cap the dual test tube stand and shake until the powder is dissolved. (5) Allow the water sample to stand approximately three minutes for full color development. (6) Compare the color of the water sample to the color chart on the dual test tube stand to determine the approximate amount of iron present in parts per million (PPM). TEST REORDER NUMBER: #2105 Iron Powder Pillows

CHLORINE TEST

(1) Fill (yellow) Chlorine test stand to the calibrated line with the water to be tested. (2) Add three drops of the Orthotolidine (OTO) solution to the test sample. (3) Place cap on sample and shake lightly. (4) Allow sample to stand for two minutes to allow for full color to develop. (5) Compare the color of the sample to the color blocks and read the level of chlorine present.

TDS METER TEST

(1) Fill drinking water glass about 1/2 full of water to be tested. (2) Remove the protective cap and turn the TDS meter on. (3) Immerse into solution up to the maximum immersion level without touching the bottom of the glass. (4) Stir gently and wait until the display stabilizes. TDS meter compensates for the temperature variance automatically. (5) Read the value of the display in PPM (parts per million).
