Ask Your Contractor About Water System Sanitization

Your water softener or reverse osmosis system works hard to improve the quality of your water—but like any system that handles water, it can benefit from proper sanitization during installation, maintenance, or service.

That’s where Sani-System® comes in. Used by professional water treatment contractors, Sani-System is specially designed to sanitize water softeners, reverse osmosis systems, holding tanks, lines, and related components quickly and effectively.

Sanitization of Interior Surfaces of Water Softeners and Reverse Osmosis (RO) Units

WATER SOFTENERS

Sanitization is to occur after initial installation, after the system is serviced and periodically during its use.

  • Pour entire 0.5 oz. packet into the brine well. If no brine well is present, pour entire packet into the bottom of the brine tank when salt is nearly empty.
  • Manually regenerate the softener according to manufacturer's specifications. Regenerate a second time if necessary.

Sani-System is a clear liquid that reacts with oxidizers; do not mix with other chemicals. Store in a dry area, wear protective glove and review the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.

REVERSE OSMOSIS (RO) UNITS

Sanitization is to occur after initial installation, after the system is serviced and periodically during its use.

  • Shut off water supply to RO unit, remove membrane element and all filters. Use rubber gloves and sotre filters and membranes in water to prevent damage.
  • Open pure water faucet and depressurize system
  • Pour entire 0.25 oz. packet into the brine well. Make sure pure water faucet is closed and turn on water supply.
  • Allow system to fill with water. Time will vary depending on water pressure. However, system should be full within 5010 minutes without filters or membrane. Flush system two times.
  • Replace and re-install membranes and all filters.
