The Standard Field Water Analysis Kit gives service professionals the essential tools they need to test water quickly, explain results confidently, and support better treatment recommendations. Built for portability and durability, it is a dependable field kit for everyday water quality work.

Hardness Test Directions

(1) Fill the plastic measuring tube level full of the water to be tested and pour into square mixing bottle. IMPORTANT — hold the bottle straight up and down when adding drops. If testing in the home, allow the water to run for a few minutes before sampling. (2) Add three drops of hardness solution #1 to the water sample and swirl the bottle to mix the solution. (3) Add three drops of hardness solution #2 to the water sample and swirl to mix. The addition of these chemicals will turn the water sample red, if hardness is present. (4) Add the hardness solution #3, on drop at a time, (while swirling the mixing bottle) — be sure to count the drops it requires to turn the water sample from red to blue. The number of drops required is equal to the hardness in grains per gallon (GPG).

pH Test Directions

(1) Fill the side of the dual test tube stand marked “pH” to the calibrated line with the water to be tested. (2) Add ten drops of the pH solution to the water sample, cap the dual test tube stand and shake several times to mix the solution. (3) Compare the color of the water sample to the color chart on the dual test stand to determine the approximate pH value of the water.

Iron Test Directions

(1) Prior to testing for iron and pH, thoroughly rinse out the dual test tube stand of any solution previously used. (2) Fill the side of the dual tube stand marked “iron” to the calibrated line with the water sample to be tested. (3) Tear open one end of the iron powder packet and empty it into the water sample. (4) Cap the dual test tube stand and shake until the powder is dissolved. (5) Allow the water sample to stand approximately three minutes for full color development. (6) Compare the color of the water sample to the color chart on the dual test tube stand to determine the approximate amount of iron present in parts per million (PPM).
